As someone who’s lived in Palm Springs for over 20 years, I always hear locals and visitors asking “What can I do with kids in Palm Springs?” Sure, Palm Springs was known for a long time as a snowbird community for retirees, but not anymore! There’s been such a huge uptick in families visiting the Coachella Valley, plus families moving to Palm Springs, that there’s more family-friendly things to do now than I can ever remember!
So if you’re looking for family-friendly things to do in Palm Springs with the kids this March, let me share some of my faves!

Family Day at the BNP Paribas Open Tennis Tournament | March 2, 2024
The BNP Paribas Open is always a fun event. I’ve been attending this one for years and have seen it grow to now include names like Nobu as part of its restaurant offerings. This year will be the first year, though, that I attend as a mom, and I’m pretty excited to share this experience as a family in the coming years!
One of the great things that the BNP Paribas does each year is host a Family Day. This year, family day will be held on Saturday, March 2 and it features an entire afternoon of kid-friendly programming! From 1-4PM, enjoy programs across the tennis gardens, including yoga, face painting, an obstacle course, friendship bracelet station, a DJ, and birdsinging by the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians. A fire truck and ambulance will also be there if you have little ones that love fire trucks!

Glow in the Park at The Living Desert | March 16-April 28, 2024
The Living Desert is always a good time for littles, with interactive exhibits like giraffe feeding and a petting zoo. This month, you’ll be able to enjoy the park after dark as the Glow in the Park lantern displays return to The Living Desert.
For six weeks, dozens of light-up displays of wildlife are placed throughout the park to create a glowing wonderland under the desert night skies. If you’ve ever been to a Wildlights event at The Living Desert, this is a similar set up. The littles will love it!

Did you know the Palm Springs Art Museum hosts a family day each month? That’s right! Every third Sunday of the month, PSAM offers a family-friendly, fun, and FREE event for children to explore the arts: Family+.
Each month, Family+ offers different activities for families to enjoy. This month, bring the family for a day of face painting, stretching and mindfulness exercises for the kids, a drop-in photography workshop where you get to create your own artwork to take home, and spirit portraits. This is a really fun way to spend an afternoon downtown!

Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert Spring Camps | March 25, 2024
Okay I’ll admit, I might be MOST excited about this one because this one is going to be a game-changer for families visiting and living in Palm Springs. The Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert closed during the pandemic for a complete renovation. Now, the time has finally come for the doors to reopen, and it’s bigger and better than ever!
CDMOD is focused on helping littles learn through discovery and play. Before it closed, one of its most famous exhibits was a VW Bug that you could actually paint! I actually remember visiting CDMOD when I was a kid myself, and now I’ll get to experience the museum as a parent. I can’t wait to see how CDMOD is going to bring learning to life with new and creative exhibits!
CDMOD returns this month with Spring Camps launching on March 25. The grand re-opening will be held in May, so stay tuned!
